Turning Artisanal Products into Digital Gold
Aisha, a client I was privileged to work with previously on a press-on-nails e-commerce venture, returned with a fresh and heartwarming project. She had embarked on a new journey in her hometown of Kissimmee, Florida, with "Palmitas," an artisanal beauty line. Given the pandemic's challenges, Aisha's vision was to expand this venture online. Every item radiates Aisha's meticulous touch, featuring various handcrafted products ranging from cuticle oils and moisturizers to hand scrubs and soaps. Beyond these, Aisha also aimed to weave in branded merch via drop-shipping, further diversifying her online store.

The Palmitas logo, which features the font Brand by Sensatype Studio, exudes elegance in every curve and serif. Its meticulous design guides the eyes seamlessly from one letter to the next, courtesy of the assisting ligatures. This font evokes images of palm tree leaves, and its versatile nature allows the logo to adapt horizontally or pivot to a vertical 90-degree alignment, ensuring optimal visibility across products.

To maintain brand consistency across digital and print platforms, Palmitas has chosen two fonts from Google's extensive library: Lora and Nunito. Lora, primarily employed for headlines, draws its elegance from its roots in calligraphy. This contemporary serif boasts moderate contrast, making it ideal for body text. However, the brushed curves juxtaposed against driving serifs give Lora its standout quality in headlines.
Complementing Lora is Nunito, a sans serif typeface exuding balance. Initially conceived by Vernon Adams, Nunito began as a rounded terminal sans serif crafted especially for display typography. These fonts unite the Palmitas brand, creating a harmonious visual language.
A distinctive and meaningful color palette has been crafted for the Palmitas brand. The primary hues, Palm Green (35402F), Dried Rose (761A06), Sand Dollar (E5D8CB), and Vista Blue (89A0BF) draw inspiration from the verdant greens of Puerto Rican flora and the symbolic colors of Puerto Rico.
Complementing these, secondary shades like Gold Leaf (CF8F59), Dark Night (0D0B0C), and a pristine White (FFFFFF) complete the set. A rich spectrum of hues emerges by introducing varying opacities, granting versatility for diverse product applications.
